New Alnwick stationery business gets boost
An Alnwick man is celebrating after receiving a £1,000 grant to help get his new business up and running.
Richard Frater, who set up his company Complete Business Supplies Ltd a month ago, received the cash from Alnwick District Council through the Rural Business Initiative and used it to buy a computer system and to carry out remedial work on his Lionheart Enterprise Park office.
Richard, who used to work for Aln Printers, formerly of Alnwick, felt that the company's closure left a gap in the market that he now hopes to fill. He said: "We can supply almost everything you need to run your office smoothly from ink cartridges, paper, printed goods such as letter heads and business cards and even office furniture. We stock many popular items and can offer next day delivery on over 20,000 catalogue products."
The rural grant scheme was set up by the council to offer support to local businesses that provide vital jobs and services across the district.
The grant has been awarded to a diverse range of projects and there are potential funds available for businesses starting up, or for existing businesses that are developing and creating jobs.
Funding is also available for the expansion and improvement of rural services and facilities and for projects that will develop tourist attractions and services, although tourism accommodation is not eligible.
