Alnwick A get league thrashing

Traveller's Rest, Choppington remain on top of the Morpeth Sunday League but dropped points as Pegswood Ex-Services held them to a 1-1 draw.

Steven Young notched for the Traveller's, with Lee McAndrew on target for Pegswood.

Red Row Brick Club beat Amble Pier 81 by the odd goal in five. Josh Hay and Chris Glass scored for Pier 81, but goals from David Chivers and Stuart Marshall, with two, made sure of three points for the Brick Club and a first defeat of the season for their opponents.

Northumberland Arms won 6-0 at Ashington Booze Brothers with goals from Michael Grieves (2), Stuart Liversedge (2), Chris Moffatt and Joe Bolam.

Alnmouth Argyle and Stobhill Social Club had to make do with a point each following their 1-1 draw. Alan McFall grabbed the goal for Argyle, and Stuart Melville got on the scoresheet for Stobhill. Ox Inn, Middleton earned their first point of the season in a 3-3 draw with North Seaton Elephant.

Castington maintained their promotion charge with a 6-0 win over Alnwick A in Division Two. Steven McLeod, Chris Davidson and Steve Wintersgill all scored twice. Blackthorn Rovers stay second, but were held to a draw by Bedlington Station. Carl Sayer, Adam Smith and Craig Robinson were on target for Rovers, with Ian Richardson, Brian Richardson and Ronald John Foreman replying for the Station in the 3-3 draw.

Ellington and Block & Tackle shared the same scoreline. David Cuthbertson netted a brace, with Dean Short also scoring for Ellington. Chris Evans, Lee Smith and Stu Smith earned a point for the Block.

In a Morpeth derby, goals from Michael Harmer and John Farrell secured a 2-0 win for Waterford Lodge at home to Morpeth Chantry. Wansbeck Riverside SC continued their rise up the table with a 2-1 win over East Chevington. Sean Palmer scored for Chevington, but goals from Shaun Michailovicz and Chris Martin saw the points go to Riverside.

Guide Post Social Club enjoyed a 3-2 win at Bedlington Barrington Arms. Chris Neill and Dylan William scored for the home side, as a brace from Graeme Coates and a goal from Darryl Gibson saw Guide Post to the win.

In Division Three, David Cavigan scored the goal which earned Bedlington Station Railway a 1-0 win at Base FC, Ashington, and maintained their 100% record.

Chatton got off the mark for the season, with their first win since February 2008 as they beat Ashington Conchie 2-1. Adam McTaggart gave the Conchie a first-half lead, but Ross Simpson blasted Chatton level mid way through the second half. Chris Stanwix then notched a late winner following an assist from Luke Strangeways.

Morpeth Black Bull hammered local rivals Morpeth Swan 7-1. Kelvin Dodds got the only goal for the Swan, as Colin Herdman, Kyle Shaw, Michael Bray, Jonny Rees, Ronnie Clark, Matty Thomas and Paul Appleby rattled the back of the net for the Bull. Amble Dock gained swift revenge for their defeat at the hands of Morpeth White Swan last week with a 6-2 win. Chris Connor scored twice, and further goals came from Ethan Miller, Kieron Embleton, Stu Elliott and an own goal. Chris Turner and Neil Twizell replied for the visitors.

Bomarsund Social Club kept the pressure on the leaders with a 5-0 win over Ashington Hirst Industrial.
